The Wonderful Pistachios 400 is considered the last race in NASCAR’s “regular season” as the top point-earning drivers move on to The Chase for The Cup. This 300 mile race is a must win for many drivers, and in 2011 it doesn't get any more important for a NASCAR driver than the Wonderful Pistachio 400. Formerly known as Air Guard 400, this tri-oval track is three quarters of a mile in length.
Held at the Richmond International Raceway in Richmond, Virginia. the Wonderful PIstachios 400 features top ten-point earning drivers in an important "playoff" to determine the Sprint Cup Chase champion. Only the top 12 drivers in the point standings will be eligible to win the series championship, which is decided links the final 10 races of the season.
