Coke Zero 400
Daytona International Speedway, Daytona Beach, FL
NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
July 2nd, 2011 |
NASCAR's Sprint Cup Series returns to famed Daytona International Speedway for the third time in 2011 for the Coke Zero 400. It will take place on July 2nd, 2011. Always an exciting run, the circuit's best will be out in force, looking to tame this legendary track.
One of the most exciting NASCAR nighttime races on the circuit, the Coke Zero 400 Powered By Coca-Cola features the stars of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series battling for victory on the daunting 31-degree high banks of DIS. The 160-lap, 400-mile Independence Day holiday weekend classic will feature fireworks on and off the track with past winners including Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Tony Stewart and most recently Tony Stewart in 2009.
The Coke Zero 400 was once known as the Firecracker 250 when it was first run in the years of 1959 thru 1962. From this time, the name changed to the Firecracker 400. Pepsi was the title sponsor through 2006 but the name was changed again to reflect this. It became the Pepsi 400. Last year, Coke took links as the official drink of all the ISC tracks and thus the name became Coke Zero 400 for this year’s race. Coca-Cola is the driving force behind the Coke Zero 400 NASCAR race. This race consists of 160 laps totaling about 400 miles.
