Hatton will be fighting Paulie Malignaggi on November 22nd in Las Vegas, Nevada in an IBO light welterweight title fight. The bout was supposed to be for Malignaggi's IBF light welterweight title too but Malignaggi had to vacate it rather than grant Hermann Ngoudjoa in a rematch.

Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena will play host to this eagerly anticipated clash as Ricky 'The Hitman' Hatton takes on defending IBF junior welterweight champion Paul Malignaggi. Always thinking of his fans, Hatton pushed for the fight to be in Las Vegas rather than at New York's Madison Square Garden as Vegas would be cheaper for his UK supporters to get to. Hatton and Malignaggi both have much to prove and this fight is set to be a tensely faught and technically impressive affair.

Hatton (44-1, 31 KOs) outpointed Juan Lazcano and Malignaggi, despite breaking a bone in his chronically injured right hand, won a second decision against former titlist Lovemore N'Dou, the man from whom he won the title in dominant fashion last summer.

Hatton formerly was the IBF World, WBA World, WBU World, WBA Inter-Continental, WBO Inter-Continental, British, British Central Area Light Welterweight and WBA World Welterweight Champion.

Ricky Hitman Hatton and is being trained by Floyd Mayweather snr for the clash with IBF light-welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi. The 29-year-old Mancunian lost his only fight last year, against Mayweather's son Floyd jnr. He has admitted his tendency to try to bulldoze opponents proved costly on that occasion. Mayweather snr is known for his defensive tactics.

Of Malignaggi's 25 wins, only five have come via knockout. Malignaggi's last 12 fights have resulted in a decision - his last knockout victory came against Kevin Watts in August of 2003. Malignaggi may lack power, but he has an iron chin and incredible endurance. He took a beating from Miguel Cotto and still managed to make it to a decision. Hatton, on the other hand, doesn't have the same chin but possesses knockout power.

Ricky Hatton, on the other hand, clearly possesses knockout power. Of his 44 victories, 33 have come via knockout.

Ricky "The Hitman" Hatton defeated Paulie Malignaggi by TKO at :28 in the 11th round of their junior welterweight bout.

Malignaggi's trainer, Buddy McGirt, stepped onto the ring apron, forcing referee, Kenny Bayless, to stop the fight. Malignaggi, distraught by the stoppage, shoved McGirt in vehement protest, but he had little argument for his cause.

By the fateful 11th round, Malignaggi had deflated into a survivor instead of a winner. He circled without throwing and grabbed without trying to land. Meanwhile, Hatton had begun pot-shotting like he was a prime Roy Jones Jr.
