• Where: Bay Hill Golf Club and Lodge, Orlando, Florida
• TV: Golf Channel/NBC

The Arnold Palmer Invitational, formerly known as the Bay Hill Invitational, draws the world’s top professional golfers on the PGA Tour. The event traces its history back to 1966 when it began as the Florida Citrus Open Invitational.

The event is named in honor of its host and founder, Arnold Palmer. Mr. Palmer is a legend and icon in the world of golf having amassed 92 victories worldwide, including 4 Masters titles, 2 British Open Championships, and one US Open Championship.

Arnold Palmer also added that the PGA Tour event will still have excelent pro golf players competing at Bay Hill March 21st-27th, 2011.

Bay Hill Club and Spa was just recently restire back to a par 72, after a 3 year trial of playing the tournament at par 70. The PGA Tour has ended the Florida Swing with the Arnold Palmer Invitational and Ernie Els as the 2011 defending champion. Wearing his blue blazer he joked of dying in GREEN. He hopes to be the winner of the mayor golf event on the PGA Tour the Masters at Augusta National in Georgia in two weeks. Els wants to wear a green jacket like the blue one that we got for this past weekend victory at Bay Hill course with the 2010 Arnold Palmer Invitational. Two weeks before he also won the CA-WGC at Doral and became the second player to win two mayor PGA events before the Masters. The last one to obtain this record was Tiger Woods in 2001, when he won the Arnold Invitational and The Players Championship.

This was not an easy task for Els, he stated that it turned from confortable and nice play to a really tense battle in the last rounds and he had not been so stressed for a long time. It seems that this recipe worked quite well for Els this time around. Because of the soggy conditions of the course it made it even worst for many of the plays. At the end his tactics and skills worked very well for Ernie and move to get his Bay Hill victory.

Retief Goosen (69) and Chris Couch (71) tied for fourth.

Since its debut at Bay Hill Country Club in 1997 The Palmer Cup has rapidly developed into one of the GCAA’s premier events. The annual Ryder Cup-style competition showcases the top eight American college golfers and their counterparts from Europe. Through the involvement of sports marketing firm IMG and a strong contingent of committed sponsors the Palmer Cup is considered one of the most widely respected and anticipated golf events in the world.

Tiger Woods, who lives in nearby Windermere, captured an unprecedented four consecutive Bay Hill championships from 2000 to 2003. Woods also won the Arnold Palmer Invitational in 2008.
Woods also was the runner-up by three strokes to Immelman in the 2008 Masters.

2008 Tournament Winner
Tiger Woods won this event for the fifth time by sinking a 25-foot birdie putt on the final hole. Woods posted rounds of 70-68-66-66 for a 10-under 270 total, one stroke better than runner-up Bart Bryant.
