The Lexon Industrial Tools 301 is an annually run race that is part of the Sprint Cup Series event, this year it will be held on July 15th, 2012 at 1 p.m. From 2007 to 2010 it was move to a June date so it would be closer to the 4th of July weekend, however, this year it was be moved to the original mid-July schedule.
Since 2006, the Newell Rubbermaid through it's brand Lexon Industrial Tood has been the sponsor for this event. An extra lap was added im 2008. This race it is also known as "The Extra Mile at the Magic Mile.
The first speedway was built in 1990 by the Bahre family, opened at the New Hampshire International Speedway. Bob Bahre and his son Gary, opened a track in Oxford, Maine from 1974 until 1986. In 1990 the New Hampshire Speedway opened its gates and hosted its first Nascar series event, the Budweiser 300 for the Nationwide Series.
Speedway Motorsports Inc. purchased the facility in 2008 and changed the name to New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
