The Waste Management Phoenix Open is one of the first PGA golf events of the calendar year. Formerly known as The FBR Open and the Phoenix Open, it is also the best attended golf tournament of the calendar year with more than 400,000 fans attending this exciting event.The 2010 edition will mark the 75th anniversary of the event, making it one of the five oldest events on the PGA TOUR (not including the major championships). 2010 Waste Management Phoenix Open Tournament Chairman David Rauch announced today that Spain’s Alvaro Quiros received the fifth sponsor exemption for the 2010 Waste Management Phoenix Open. Billy Mayfair, Rickie Fowler, Jonathan Kaye and Rocco Mediate received the first four tournament exemptions. Rauch and the tournament host Thunderbirds will hand out a total of eight sponsor exemptions for the tournament.
This year the tournament will be played between Thursday Feb 25 and Sunday Feb 28, 2010. The venue will be the TPC Scottsdale, Scottsdale, Arizona.

The 18-hole "Stadium" course at the TPC of Scottsdale facility in Scottsdale, Arizona features 6,508 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 71 . The course rating is 71.0 and it has a slope rating of 124 on Bermuda grass. Designed by Jay Morrish, ASGCA/Tom Weiskopf/(R)Randy Heckenkemper, the Stadium golf course opened in 1986.
2010 Wastemanegement Phonenix Open Results
Mahan came from four strokes back to win the Phoenix Open by a shot over Rickie Fowler on Sunday in a 1-2 finish for former Oklahoma State players. Mahan has played well the past two years, despite that he was not won any tournament. He played on the 2008 Ryder Cup team and had six top-10s in 2009, including a runner-up finish at the AT&T National. His earnings the last two years topped $5 million.
