PGA Tour Transitions Championship Golf 2011

The PGA Tour is starting this Monday March 14th, 2011 at Tampa Bay, Florida. The Transitions Championship started yesteday with the Live Your Vision Family Walk, this is the first event of several that will be held during the week to reinforce the importance of the connection between a healthy sight and an linksall heathly lifestyle.

The tournament was founded in 2000 as the Tampa Bay Classic while it was originally an alternate event played the same week as the Presidents Cup in 2000. This year the competition will be taking place at the Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club located at Tampa Bay Florida. It will take at the Copperheads course with was reopened in 1999 two years after it was bought by Westin INc and invested links $500,000 to restored the course making it better for bigger events like the PGA TOUR. The Copperheads organization is also an organization that has basically to purposes to provide local golf fans with a first-class golf tournaments like the PGA Tour as well as aiding many local charities in raising money for their organizations through professional golf events. Copperheads have helped raised links $8 million in the last past five years to local Tampa Bay area charities. Birdies for Tampa Bay Charities is the program that is used by the Copperheads organization to provide the charities with a plan for raising funds. This is a grass roots fundraising program designed to give all 501 charities an opportunity to generate contributions for their organizations based on the number of “birdies” made by contestants during the tournament.

The Transitions tournament is going to take place from March 14th until March 20th at the Innisbrook Golf Spa and Resort. There are 500 FedEx Cup Points and also a winning share of $920,000 from the winning purse of $5.5 million.The event will be Broadcasted on NBC and Sirius at the competition times.

Jym Furyk once again got to the end of the competition with a really good stroke record. A total of 277 Strokes put him on the lead of the competition leaving Retief Goosen, the past champion, back on the fifth place.
