Watson, left-hander long hitter from the Florida Panhandle, closed with a 4-under 66 to match Verplank (64) and Pavin (66) at 14 under. Pavin dropped out on the first extra hole.
The win marked the largest comeback on the TOUR since Padraig Harrington came from six back to win the 2007 British Open. Watson, 31, finished with a final score of 266, and with the 500 points gained from the victory, moves into 8th place in the FedExCup standings.
