2014 Preseason Picks

It´s been a while for Toronto

Washington Wizards vs. Toronto Raptors
7:00 PM ET, February 27, 2014
Air Canada Centre, Toronto, ON
Coverage: TSN

When was the last time you can remember that the Raptors were in first place in the Atlantic division? I´m having the same problem, this team has gone from bad to worse and back over the season´s but they seem to have something going now. They might not have the eclipse player that most other teams have but I think that allows for even better push between them, to see who will outscore or out rebound the better guy for the night before.Read the rest of this entry »

The Nets are playing much better now…

Charlotte Bobcats vs. Brooklyn Nets
7:30 PM ET, February 12, 2014
Barclays Center, Brooklyn, NY
Coverage: YES

In late November the Bobcats were an 8 point dog when they played host to the Brooklyn Nets, a game they ended up winning by four points, this team has a long way to go but they have shown improvements in all aspects of their game, protecting the ball, making sure they get a certain number of touches before settling for a shoot and defending their rim, taking charges and really challenging their opponents on the rebounding side. The Nets seem to have finally worked out a little of that chemistry problems they started the season off with but now, behind Joe Johnson and his lights out shooting this team has really caused a stir. Read the rest of this entry »

Indiana feels robed in their loss to Orlando

Dallas Mavericks vs. Indiana Pacers
7:00 PM ET, February 12, 2014
Bankers Life Field house, Indianapolis, IN
Coverage: FSMW

The Pacers are coming off a very disappointing loss to the Orlando Magic a few days ago and have all the intention to take it out on Dallas; the Pacers have bounced back with a convincing win after every one of their losses this season except one, this will be the first time that the Mavericks play Indiana and even though they are rolling on their own high from a good win over the Celtics, they have yet to face a team like Indiana this season from the east coast more so when they are upset. Read the rest of this entry »

Can the Warriors cool off the Heat?

Miami Heat vs. Golden State Warriors
10:30 PM ET, February 12, 2014
ORACLE Arena, Oakland, CA
Coverage: NBATV

The Heat are coming into this game having won 14 of their last 17 games, they have played lights out basketball since the start of this new year but the real answer will be written when they meet up with the Warriors in California for what will be their main wall to get through if they have aspirations of being a power house in the west. For the Warriors, things are looking great, they are playing slow tempo and getting good rest minutes for their guys while still being red hot from the field and winning games, they are the team to beat coming out of the East right now. Read the rest of this entry »

Big test for the Clippers in this game

Portland Trail Blazers vs. Los Angeles Clippers
10:30 PM ET, February 12, 2014
STAPLES Center, Los Angeles, CA
Coverage: FSW2

This will be the last time these two teams will meet up in the regular season, their first game was a few months ago when the Clippers traveled to Portland where they were dominated on the glass and robbed blind by the Blazers guards, the Clippers lost that game 91 to 102 but recently they have hit a hot streak and Griffin is playing the best basketball of the last 2 seasons, Portland is one of the top teams in the West so being able to not only even up the record but beat a team like Portland would really boost the Clippers to a new level. Read the rest of this entry »

Game one was great, this one promises to be better

Portland Trail Blazers vs. Dallas Mavericks
8:30 PM ET, January 18, 2014
American Airlines Center, Dallas, TX
Coverage: FSSW

In their first meeting this season these two teams really let loose on each other, showing off the best they had and really limiting their turnovers, it was a offensive driven game with flashes of defense here and there but for the most part it was one on one basketball from the corners or inside the paint, making for a fantastic game to watch. The Mavericks hit a big shoot with only seconds left in the game to end up winning it, something I am sure has stayed with the Blazers as they have not suffered too many loses this year and will be wanting to make this right. Read the rest of this entry »

The Bobcats are back to struggling yet again…

Charlotte Bobcats vs. Orlando Magic
7:00 PM ET, January 17, 2014
Amway Center, Orlando, FL
Coverage: FSFL

We all knew this season was going to be a rebuilding year for the Magic who emptied their roster as they started to rebuild through last year’s draft, they still have some moves to make this summer with the extra money they will have and it should be enough to catch some stars attention. The Bobcats actually started the season off good with wins over Clippers, Knicks and other big teams but yet again they have fallen into their roll of turning the ball over and not attacking the rim, this game still has some interest in it because of the youth factor on either side of the ball. Read the rest of this entry »

The best story in the NBA this season

Dallas Mavericks vs. Phoenix Suns
9:00 PM ET, January 17, 2014
US Airways Center, Phoenix, AZ
Coverage: FSAZ

Not only are the Suns playing great all around basketball but they have defied all experts who graded them as an F team to start the season. This Suns team is 12 and 5 at home and beaten most of the big names in the League, they have found their touch from beyond the arc while attacking the rim as a team, like back in the day with Allen Iverson in his Philly days. Dallas lost to the Suns earlier this season and would love the chance to get some redemption. Read the rest of this entry »

A great Battle awaits us

Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Houston Rockets
9:30 PM ET, January 16, 2014
Toyota Center, Houston, TX
Coverage: TNT

The Rockets are coming into this game on their home floor and looking for a little redemption after their first outing against the Thunder earlier this season. Houston was crushed by the fast moving, sniper like shooting of Oklahoma City, losing by 21 points in Oklahoma. This time around I expect to see much more of a fight from the Rockets who have looked impressive over their last five games, rotating the ball well and defending the perimeter shooting, something the Thunder pride themselves on. Read the rest of this entry »

NBA stretches out to London

Brooklyn Nets vs. Atlanta Hawks
3:00 PM ET, January 16, 2014
O2 ARENA, London
Coverage: NBATV

Although the Hawks are listed as the home team in this game both will be playing far from home as they travel to Great Britain for one of the NBA´s 10 international season games. The Nets have not had it easy playing in the US and to add on jet lag from a 10+ house flight will not help but the Hawks are coming off a difficult road trip so things won’t be easy on either side for this game. More Details
