NASCAR GEICO400

September 16, 2012

Chicagoland Speedway

Joliet, Illinois

GEICO 400 (former Lifelock.com 400) is a Sprint Cup Series stock car race held annually each summer at the Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Illinois. The NASCAR GEICO 400 Has only been around since 2001. This new race was won back-to-back by Kevin Harvick the first two years in Chicago. At first, the race was called USG Sheetrock 400 and then the Tropicana 400.

For the 2012 celebrations there will be a country music concert with superstar Luke Bryan, this will kickoff the begining of The Chase Series event. Another addition to the celebrations this year is the Post race walk, for the first time fans will have the oportinuty to walk on the actual track after the Geico 400.

After 10 years of being held in July, on August 9, 2010 it was announced that the race will become the first race in the Chase For The Sprint Cup for the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season, replacing and bumping New Hampshire’s chase race to the second race in the chase.

Race sponsorship has now been taken over by LifeLock, a fraud-prevention company which has also previously sponsored the Kansas 400 in 2007, and the first Michigan 400 race of the year in 2008 and 2009, with all three carrying the title of LifeLock 400 during that time.
