My College Football Week 11 expert picks starts with two of the most important games on Nov. 11. Who takes it against the spread when Georgia battles Auburn in Alabama? Will Miami upset Notre Dame as a home dog a week after beating Virginia Tech? What’s going to happen when Oklahoma State and Iowa State throw down in Iowa?
College Football Week 11 Expert Picks
#2 Georgia at #10 Auburn
When: Saturday, Nov. 11 at 3:30 pm ET
Where: Jordan-Hare Stadium, Auburn, AL
Odds: Auburn +3
Analysis: Georgia is undefeated heading to Auburn. The Bulldogs beat South Carolina 24 to 10 on Nov. 4. The Bulldogs are ranked first in the College Football Playoff. They’re only ranked second on the AP Poll.
Is Georgia ready to beat Auburn at Jordan-Hare Stadium? I don’t believe so. Auburn’s D only allows 16.9 points per game. The Tigers’ offense has gelled as the season has gone on. Auburn now averages 36.9 points per game.
It’s difficult to keep it close versus the Auburn Tigers at home. This is the day Georgia’s dream season takes a turn for the worse. I think Auburn beats Georgia straight up on Saturday while covering the spread.
Pick: Auburn +3
#3 Notre Dame at #7 Miami
When: Saturday, Nov. 11 at 8:00 pm ET
Where: Hard Rock Stadium, Miami, FL
Odds: Miami +3.5
Analysis: The Notre Dame Irish are 8 at 1 straight up. Notre Dame, who no doubt steps into the CFP this week, has been tremendous versus the spread this season. The Irish are a great 7 and 2 ATS.
Miami proved in College Football Week 10 that they can beat a ranked team. Up until taking down Virginia Tech 28 to 10, the best team Miami had beaten was Florida State. The Seminoles weren’t even ranked when the Canes beat them.
Can Miami stand up to Notre Dame? I think they can. I’ll take the points on the Canes. Miami tends to play down to its competition. That’s why it had trouble covering spreads versus Georgia Tech, Syracuse, and North Carolina.
I like Miami to pull off the upset.
Pick: Miami +3.5
#12 Oklahoma State at #24 Iowa State
When: Saturday, Nov. 11 at 12:00 pm ET
Where: Jack Trice Stadium, Ames, IA
Odds: Iowa State +7
Analysis: Oklahoma State travels to Iowa State in a key game for both teams. Oklahoma State lost 52 to 62 to Oklahoma in a key Big 12 battle on Nov. 4. Iowa State lost 16 to 20 to West Virginia.
Which team lost worse? I must write Oklahoma State. The Cowboys had absolutely no answer on defense. Zero. None. Oklahoma racked up 785 yards versus the Oklahoma State defense. It was one of the worst shows of defense ever.
Iowa State is a lock because the Cyclones defense can stop an offense occasionally. Oklahoma State’s defense can never stop an offense. I think Iowa State takes it.
Pick: Iowa State +7
