College Football Week 11 Upset Picks

#17 Virginia Tech at Georgia Tech
When:  Saturday, Nov. 11 at 12:20 pm ET
Where: Bobby Dodd Stadium, Atlanta, GA
Odds: Georgia Tech +3

Analysis: Virginia Tech entered their Week 10 game versus Miami as a 2-point dog. The Hokies didn’t play like a 2-point dog. They played like an 18-point dog. VA Tech lost 10 to 28.

The problem Virginia Tech has in this game is that they allow close to 123 rushing yards per game. VA Tech’s D versus the run this past Saturday in the loss to Miami was even worse than it usually is. The Canes rushed for 220 yards from 34 carries. That’s a 6.5 per rush average.

Virginia Tech’s inability to stop the rush is going to be a problem versus the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in College Football Week 11. The Yellow Jackets average 331.9 rushing yards per game.

If the Hokies can’t stop G-Tech’s rush, they’ll lost straight up. I think that’s going to happen. Clemson spanked Virginia Tech. Miami spanked Virginia Tech.

Now, it’s Georgia Tech who should spank Virginia Tech.

Pick: Georgia Tech

#13 Michigan State at #11 Ohio State
When:  Saturday, Nov. 11 at 12:00 pm ET
Where: Ohio Stadium, Columbus, OH
Odds: Michigan State +14.5

Analysis: After their biggest win of the season, the Ohio State Buckeyes bombed as a huge favorite in College Football Week 10. The Buckeyes lost 24 to 55 as a -21-road favorite versus the Iowa Hawkeyes.
What happened? Not much. Ohio State just failed. Can they come back as a favorite at home versus Michigan State? I don’t believe they can. The Buckeyes face a Michigan State team with a lot of momentum.

Michigan State beat Penn State 27 to 24 in a hard-fought game in Week 10. The Spartans took down the Nittany Lions by simply outplaying them. I don’t see Ohio State doing better versus Michigan State than Penn State.

The Buckeyes are reeling. Sparty should keep them reeling.

Pick: Michigan State

#15 USC at Colorado
When:  Saturday, Nov. 11 at 4:00 pm ET
Where: Folsom Field, Boulder, CO
Odds: Colorado +13

Analysis: Colorado hosts USC in an important game for the Trojans. USC has bounced back since their 17 to 49 loss to Notre Dame on Oct. 21. How did USC bounce back? They got a chance to play the Arizona schools, ASU and U of A.

USC beat Arizona 49 to 35. They beat ASU 48 to 17. Did wins versus the Arizona schools get USC right? Maybe. I’m not sure.

My gut tells me that Colorado stands up tough in this game. Although the Buffalos are 2 and 4 ATS at home, they do average 28 points per game. They also hung with ASU for a time in their 30 to 41 loss to the Sun Devils in Week 10.

The real reason to like Colorado is because they beat Cal 44 to 28 at home on Oct. 28. If Colorado can get their offense going, they can keep this close.

Pick: Colorado
