2-Team Parlay Play

  • Kansas City -3
  • Cleveland  +10.5

Pittsburgh at Kansas City
When:  Sunday, Oct. 15 at 4:25 pm ET
Where: Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City, MO
TV: CBS
Odds: Kansas City -3

Analysis: Pittsburgh looked horrible in their 9 to 30 loss to Jacksonville. Pitt battled the Jaguars at home as a -7.5 favorite. The Jags had no business thumping Pitt the way they did.

Granted, Big Ben threw 5 interceptions. But, Ben doesn’t play defense. Jacksonville rushed for 231 yards from 37 carries. Rookie RB Leonard Fournette rushed for 181 yards.

Pittsburgh allowed 146.4 rushing yards per game before Fournette dominated. The reason I keep concentrating on Pitt’s rush defense is because Kansas City has arguably the best running back in the NFL on their team in Kareem Hunt.

It’s impossible to stop Hunt when you’ve got a good rush defense. Pittsburgh of keeping the loss within 10 points.

Pick: Kansas City -3

Cleveland at Houston
When:  Sunday, Oct. 15 at 1:00 pm ET
Where: NRG Stadium, Houston, TX
TV: CBS
Odds: Cleveland +10.5

Analysis: I was impressed with Cleveland’s defense in the Browns’ 14 to 17 loss to the New York Jets in Week 5. Cleveland Round 1 pick, DE Myles Garrett, finally got a chance to play. Garrett didn’t disappoint. He recorded 2 sacks for 12 yards. More importantly, he pressured Jets’ QB Josh McCown all afternoon.

Since Garrett is a DE, he can contain Houston QB DeShaun Watson from getting the edge. Watson is an electrifying player. He still faces a tough matchup versus Cleveland’s front 7, which got demonstrably better with Garrett starting.

An important note about Cleveland’s offense is that coach Hue Jackson is going with former Stanford QB Kevin Hogan. Hogan has some talent. He completed 16 of 19 for 194 yards. He threw 2 TD passes and an interception.

Hogan might get Isaiah Crowell going. Crowell rushed for 60 yards from 16 carries. That was his best rushing performance this season.

If that happens, if Hogan can get Crowell going, am I crazy for thinking Cleveland can beat Houston straight up? In my parlay I’m taking the points.

Pick: Cleveland +10.5

3-Team Parlay Play

  • Kansas City -3
  • Cleveland  +10.5
  • Jacksonville SU

L.A. Rams at Jacksonville
When:  Sunday, Oct. 15 at 4:05 pm ET
Where: EverBank Field, Jacksonville, FL
TV:  FOX
Odds: Jacksonville pk

Analysis: This might be the most interesting game in NFL Week 6. The Rams lost 10 to 16 to the Seattle Seahawks. L.A.’s offense played well. It didn’t play good enough.

Jacksonville upset the Pittsburgh Steelers 30 to 9. The Jags intercepted QB Big Ben Roethlisberger 5 times in the game. So, what we’ve got this Sunday is one of the best offenses in the NFL against one of the best defenses in the NFL.

What’s going to happen? I like the Jaguars to shut down the Rams’ offense. I know that at times the Jaguars allow a ton of rushing yards. Jacksonville never gives up the big pass play, though. In fact, the Jaguars’ defense is ranked first in the NFL against the pass.

Jacksonville RB Leonard Fournette could have a big day against the Rams’ soft rush defense. Jacksonville should win this game by around 3 to 7 points.

Pick: Jacksonville pk
