My NFL Week 6 upset picks start this Thursday’s game between Philadelphia and Carolina, Which team figures to get the job done at Bank of America Stadium on October 12? I also like the looks of the Jets against New England on Sunday. How will J-E-T-S prevent the blowout loss? The final against the spread upset I like happens when Chicago travels to Baltimore. Can the Bears cover as a big-time dog?

NFL Week 6 Upset Picks

Philadelphia at Carolina
When:  Thursday, Oct. 12 at 8:25 pm ET
Where: Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, NC
TV: CBS
Odds: Philadelphia +3

Analysis: The Eagles were phenomenal when dominating the Arizona Cardinals 34 to 7 in NFL Week 5. Philly’s offense is ranked first in the NFL in both passing yards and rushing yards per game. The Eagles rush for 138.8 yards per. They pass for 259 yards per.

Philly’s offense could have some success against Carolina’s defense. Although Carolina figures to shut down Philadelphia’s rushing attack, quarterbacks have been able to break down Philly’s secondary.
Carolina’s a good team. The problem I have with backing them in this is Cam Newton. He’s played at a fantastic level in 2 straight games. I’m not sure Cam can play at such a high-level in 3 straight.

I like the Eagles.

Pick: Philadelphia +3

New England at NY Jets
When: Sunday, Oct. 15 at 1:00 pm ET
Where: MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ
TV: CBS
Odds: NY Jets +9

Analysis: New England’s defense held a decent Tampa Bay offense to only 14 points in a 19 to 14 win in Week 5. I’m not sure the Patriots’ defense has solved all its issues, though.

More importantly, this is a rivalry game like no other in the NFL. The Jets often play hard versus the New York Jets. The Jets’ defense held Cleveland to 14 points. Sure, the Jets’ pass defense isn’t great. But, NYJ does have 2 excellent safeties in Marcus Maye and Jamal Adams.

That might be enough for J-E-T-S to keep New England QB Tom Brady under control enough to keep this within the spread. I like the Jets to keep it close.

Pick: NY Jets +9

Chicago at Baltimore
When: Sunday, Oct.15 at 1:00 pm ET
Where: M&T Bank Stadium, Baltimore, MD
TV:  FOX
Odds: Chicago +7

Analysis: Baltimore ended a 2-game slide by beating the Derek Carr-less Oakland Raiders 30 to 17. But, before getting cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs about Baltimore’s Week 6 game versus Chicago, we must remember that the Ravens only average 148.4 passing yards per game.

Chicago isn’t a bad football team. Now that rookie Mitch Trubisky is under center, the Bears’ offense might be more effective than it was with Mike Glennon. Playing RB Tarik Cohen more could really hamper opposing teams’ defenses.

I’m just not in love with Baltimore at -7 over Chicago. The Ravens strike me as a team that’s up or down. I’m taking the points.

Pick: Chicago +7
